Teacher Librarian Day 2010: Unpack the Standards - Discover Your Story

Using Primary Sources and Inquiry to Address the New Colorado State Social Studies Standards

Teaching with Primary Sources – Colorado in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, the Denver Public Library Genealogy Department, and Rocky Mountain PBS is offering a one-day workshop for .5 credits through Adams State on February 12, 2010.

We will explore ways to bring history alive for students by taking participants on a topic-based chronological journey through the story of an immigrant family. From immigration and early industrialization, to World War II and current global connections, a panel of historians, genealogy experts, economists, and educators will frame a discussion about how to explore the past using genealogy, primary sources, and technology.  Additionally, we will relate the timeline of topics to the new Colorado social studies standards to inspire new ideas about how primary sources and historical inquiry can generate powerful learning in today's classroom.

Sub reimbursement available to the first 100 registrants!

*Please note: Those requesting graduate credit may not receive sub reimbursement.
